Titus The Movie Fundraising Campaign

Our Story

Hello all,

We are a team of two female filmmakers trying to shoot our very first feature film with the help of family, friends and the local community. We just decided that being broke shouldn't stand in the way of doing creative stuff that we both love, so no more waiting for big shots to give us money and by that an opportunity to make our first feature film, we just decided we want to make it happen no matter what!!

Recently we met a very talented young actress in LA who inspired us to write a script for her, then we were lucky enough to find an extraordinary woman who happens to be deaf and is going to portray our deaf character in the film.

We made an effort to actually cast an actress from deaf community instead of casting a hearing actress to play the part. We really wanted to be as authentic as possible and also give a chance to a wonderful actors from deaf community.

It's also very remarkable that our lead actress is learning sign language for this part. I myself (writer/director) have been learning sign as you can see from the video :), so we are serious about making this film as true and honest as possible.

PS. We started shooting this project about two months ago, were not able to raise enough money to let us keep shooting, so we are on hold right now, need more funds, which will go to providing food for the actors and some gas money.

The Impact

Our shooting style will also contribute to this quest, we'll be using mainly natural and available light and shooting documentary style. The film is a drama piece, it's about a young girl who enters life of a deaf woman, affecting both of their lives in the ways she didn't bargain for, only at the end of the film we find out the truth about the girl. The film tackles such issues as drug addiction, child abuse, misconceptions about deaf community and cultural diversity.

We have all the equipment we need for actual shooting, our friends are helping with some of the locations and additional equipment, we are also getting huge support from deaf community and our cast and crew are dedicating their time and energy for free.

This film will be directed at major film festivals.

What We Need & What You Get

But (and there's a huge BUT) we still need at least $2000 in order to feed the cast and crew and provide at least gas money for them, we also are hoping to get most of the locations for free but we still need to pay for insurance, so this is where all the money will go, we are really 

hoping we'll be able to raise a lot more than our minimum amount, that way we would be able to pay the cast and crew minimum day rate. Thanks to our immediate family members we were able to purchase the camera we'll be using for the shoot (Canon 5D Mark II), we are expecting small funds for pre-production from our friends as well, but "Indie gogo" is our main fundraising campaign and source in order to keep or cast and crew fed during the shoot we do need this minimum amount of $2000.

We are offering cool perks and rewards for different amounts of donations, like fine art photography digital images and prints, DVD copy of the finished film, invitation to the screening and wrap party, THANK YOU credit at the end of the film titles (depending on how much you donate), cool t-shirts and of course huge gratitude to everyone who contributes.
