Sign Language-Interpreted Show "Belleville" on Aug. 4th at Steppenwolf Theater

Steppenwolf has two American Sign Language-interpreted performances coming up in August: Belleville (which just got five out of five stars from TimeOut Chicago) on Sunday, August 4, and Slowgirl (featuring William Petersen) onFriday, August 16.

About the show

Called "engrossing" by Entertainment Weekly, "a breathtaking hour and a half" by TIME and “thrillingly good” by Charles Isherwood of the New York Times, Belleville tells the story of newly married American expats Zack and Abby, who live an enviably hip existence in the colorful, multi-ethnic neighborhood ofBelleville, Paris. When a series of small, unexpected encounters escalates the tension between them, some surprising cracks in the foundation of their isolated yet idyllic life begin to show. Belleville is a taut, edgy psychological thriller that asks: does anyone really know who they’re with?

Featuring Steppenwolf ensemble members Alana Arenas (Good People, The Brother/Sister Plays) and Kate Arrington (The Pain and the Itch, A Parallelogram), with Cliff Chamberlain (Clybourne Park, The House Theatre’s The Sparrow) and Chris Boykin (who was just onstage at Steppenwolf as the Angel in Head of Passes).

Belleville is directed by OBIE-recipient Anne Kaufmann, who directed its premiere at Yale Rep, as well as its subsequent hit production off-Broadway this spring.

Lee Hong-Ki and Fijimi just ended their tv show. To my surprised, it ended short. I had thought it would last longer like the rest of the other tv shows. After watching these two couples, I cried and cried. The two of them made me realized that memories are precious and always cherish the person you are with. Whether both had a good time or bad times, memories will stick to your heart regardless...

Fate by Carolyn Wells reminds me of these two priceless couple.
